Texture the texture of a natural rug is not at all good for under a kitchen table. If there is a the commode in the dining room the carpet should reach to the middle of the space between the chairs and chests of drawers not underneath it. Carpets should not be allowed to be in size less than the table with chairs. A wide area of rug at least 24 inches should extend all the way around the dining table when all your guests are seated with the chairs tucked in. There are way too many cracks and crevices for food and crumbs to get into and forget about cleaning up liquid spills. I for one am pro rug in the dining room.
